SAFFRON

What do you do when your country is under occupation, and your very being is constantly under scrutiny? As a Palestinian and a dancer who defies traditional gender norms, caught between the realms of masculinity and femininity, where can you find your true home?

Choreographer and dancer Hala Salem, born and raised in Deir Hanna, invites you to a coming-of-age story that explores the quest for one's identity and self love. On Lynn Adib's groundbreaking fusion of Arabic folk and electronica serving, and through movement and language, Salem rediscovers her body as a sacred dwelling. A sanctuary that exists in the delicate balance between masculinity and femininity, attachment and detachment, self-discovery and self-loss.

In collaboration with producer Storytelling Centre and co-producer CC Amstel, What You See co-produces this deeply personal exploration of the body as a vessel of belonging.
