Op woensdag 20 april you see:
The Woman Destroyed by Courtney May Robertson
My Religion does not define me by Afra Ernst
Extra: Amour Amour Amour (preview) by Alioune Diagne
Carried by the raw energy of drill music, three black bodies experience their 'hissy-fit'; the state of mind that triggers an emotional outburst. They hide behind masks and an intoxication that gives them a frightening power. They are trapped in their own bodies, and in frustration they seek a way out. The result is an explosive display of "masculinity". This is accompanied by the feeling of powerlessness of people of colour. An emotional state that eats away at you, makes your emotions explode and seems to ultimately confirm imposed stigmas.
In Hissy-Fit, Christian draws on the virile dance styles breakdance and krump, the popular music movement drill rap and Afrofuturism. With live video projections, the performers bring their turbulent inner world close to the audience.
FASE by Marta & Kim
In FASE three human beings move as one constantly changing organism. Strong through their connection, but at the same time fragile. A system that moves infinitely, rising to break down again. Through circus and dance the performers are building, turning and whirling around each other. What does it mean to be a part of something? How do we exist together as human beings? For a moment we all become a part of the performance FASE. A memory that we facilitate and maintain only for as long as it matters.
The Woman Destroyed by Courtney May Robertson
Choreographer Courtney May Robertson looks at the complexities of submission and resistance. Audiences are invited to experience the unfolding of the performance simultaneously with Courtney, as she responds to the demands of a non-emotional entity in real time. In this climate of uncertainty and true vigilance, questions surrounding bodily autonomy and control systems come to the surface.
My Religion does not define me by Afra Ernst
“For a long time I have experienced my faith as a “burden” for the outside world.”Until recently, Afra Ernst didn’t tell a lot of people about her faith because she was scared of being judged for being islamitic. With her research project My religion doesn’t define me, Afra wants to build bridges between various religions and atheists. A meeting that aimes for mutual understanding and respect.
Extra: Re-surface by Keren Rosenberg
A physical and metaphysical energetic exchange between the emotional moving body of Keren, the audience members and the shamanistic sculptural work of visual artist and therapist Marian de Neef. In an intimate space, rubbing close against the skins of audiences members, Keren acts as the medium that is channeling the energy of the attendees, the sculptures and the vibration of the surroundings. Illuminating beyond the physical body, in waves overflowing spaces, time and dimensions of perception.
Extra: Amour Amour Amour by Alioune Diagne
In the personal and intimate dance solo Amour Amour Amour, Alioune Diagne makes the different facets of love recognisable. Love is a force that connects people and transcends countries and cultures. With telling personal stories about his roots, Aliounes Senegalese past is taken to a new future. Let yourself be immersed in love and travel with him.
