Theater Kikker embraces the experiment and presents makers in the middle of their creative process. For one evening, various makers show what they are working on and ask for feedback from the audience. So it’s up to you! An intimate and surprising evening and a look behind the scenes of Theater Kikker. In this edition:
In a situation where we are not sure of the space we are in, a common thing to do is to ask ourselves what we see and try to recognize our location from our surroundings' details.. Where are you? What do you see? is a deceptive performance especially made for Kikker, where the building of our theatre plays the main role. The completed performance will be shown in our theatre in april.
YOURI & MARIE – Chicago Baby
Party, drifting, refusal to see the other's refusal, dramatic ending. There is drama, no matter the "degree" of the abuse, even when it seems light, ordinary. Its indelible marks survive and the victim's life is forever changed. Even for those who didn't directly experience it, there is this constant obligation to resist, yet, they shouldn't be confronted with this pressure. Youri& Marie are researching and developing ideas for their new piece Chicago Baby with which they want to highlight and criticize the banality of harassment.
About Eleni Palogou
Eleni Palogou is a scenographer specializing in architecture. She graduated last year from the master scenography of the Utrecht School of the Arts. The multiple manifestations of reality fascinate her. In her work she duplicates what is already there, plays with scale and adds afew things here and there. She conducts her research into perception and deception by means of models and videos. In the recent weeks she played with the building of Theater Kikker as a starting point. Eleni's performance is part of a trajectory of Theater Kikker in collaboration with Municipality of Utrecht to challenge theatre designers to create autonomous work for the theatre.
