Eight people squeezed together in a subway carriage. Eight people alone in their apartments. Eight people stuck in their own minds. In the Forms of Intrusiveness triptych, Collectief Het Paradijs explores three perspectives on the increasing pressure on people’s private space.
The crowded train crashes, launching the eight passengers into their respective private lives. The intrusiveness follows them all the way into their bedrooms, where overstimulation from the outside world forces its way inside. Ultimately, there is only one safe haven left for them to escape to: But how safe is that space?
In a polarised society teeming with fake news, the cry for ‘connection’ sounds increasingly desperate and perhaps we have no choice but to intrude on each other with the best of intentions. Following Paradijsvertraging (Paradise retardation) and their performance about intrusiveness at Theatre Festival The Parade, Collectief Het Paradijs delves even deeper into this theme in the Forms of Intrusiveness triptych, in association with theatre maker Ko van den Bosch, movement artist Jakop Ahlbom and choreographer Nicole Beutler, respectively.
