Tweetakt: Out of hands 15+

Dark journey through the inner struggle of young people.
Seven young people between the ages of 13 and 23 perform acrobatic tricks in this vibrant dance and music performance. A live band plays a mix of dark pop music: gothic, industrial, noise and metal. Out of Hands is a trip to the dark side of being young. The group of teenagers takes the audience to their underworld. Away from the ideal image. Straight to how they feel inside.
Choreographer Michiel Vandevelde was at Festival Tweetakt in 2019 with the impressive theatre dance performance Paradise Now (1968-2018). A new version of a historical hippie protest performance that he created together with teenagers and young people. Now he is working again with the young players of the Flemish company fABULEUS. This time it is about the power and pain of young people. Youth is often idealized. In old myths and paintings, youth symbolizes immortality, purity, innocence and hope. This performance also shows the other side of that, and uses acrobatics to show how out of balance young people can be, and how the difficulties of life twist their bodies and minds. An exhilarating, enchanting event.

About fABULEUS
fABULEUS is a unique production house for many types of performing arts: performance, dance, circus and (text) theatre. Central to the work of fABULEUS is the artistic collaboration between (very) young talent and (more) experienced makers. On stage are sometimes young people, other times (starting) professionals. fABULEUS offers them the necessary framework to develop their qualities as a player, dancer or maker and also has an international exemplary function in that respect. With its productions, fABULEUS reaches a remarkably broad audience of all ages, with special attention for young people and children.
fABULEUS works in Leuven from the Openbaar Entrepot voor de Kunsten (OPEK). It is one of the three Leuven city companies and also a resident at the STUK arts centre.
