Living together means sharing, but also struggle-who has the upper hand?

It is nice to sleep in a bed that is neatly made. But how do you get that bed so neat? That’s quite a chore. Especially if you do it in pairs, and you both want to do it differently. It gets even more complicated, AND more fun, when the bedding invites you to play with it. When it flies up of its own accord, wraps itself around the two heads and the bed-makers get all twisted up in it. Or when they both turn into white ghosts.

Samuel Bey and Abigail Abrahams turned something as ordinary as making a bed into a funny, evocative performance full of slapstick scenes and strange happenings. And with magic tricks, because Samuel has loved circus since childhood, and learned acrobatics, magic and juggling at a circus school. Abigail, in turn, can dance and sing. Together they created this family show for everyone ages 6 and up.

It’s nice to know that Samuel and Abigail live together in real life. They got the idea for BAAS when it was corona, they couldn’t play shows, and they had to entertain themselves inside. Their own quibbles about doing housework inspired the performances. After all, which of the two knows better how to do it? And is making a bed actually something girls are better at than boys? In the playful struggle between the two, they depict themes such as cooperation, leadership, power relations and prejudices about men and women.
